Grantland Rice was a revolutionary who impacted many things in the sports world. It is important to remember that he did everything he did, with a bachelor’s degree in the arts of Greek and Latin. Rice never went to school to have a career in sports, but that is where he ended up. That can show people and other students that if they don’t like what they are studying or can’t get a job with the major they have, they can always find something different, and maybe someday that kid or student can change the world as Rice did. As said in the book "Rice was the epitome of a Renaissance man." These types of people come around once every 50 years if that! The world needs more people like Rice, especially in sports. The impact of Rice even hit everyone within the sports world even if they didn’t know it. For example, "He writes—not that you won or lost—but how you played the game” (Rice, p. 169)." And this quote was on the welcome sign to my neighborhood little league, which is crazy to think that I haven't been a part of that little league for probably 6 years now and every time I read that Rice was influencing me as a young boy. Who’s to say that someone else doesn’t have that same story, but they have no idea that Grantland Rice was responsible for that. No matter how many people know the name Grantland Rice, he will be one of the greatest pioneers in sports media.
