Coming into class on Wednesday knowing almost nothing about the speaker, only that he was a part of the music industry. In other words, I was very skeptical about the whole thing because the only way I have ever viewed music is as a source of entertainment. Once he started talking I realized this is worth listening to because no matter where someone comes from or what they do, it can have a big effect on you even if you think it won’t. The back story he began with was very different. Not a lot of people know what they want to do when they are older at a young age but he did. He loved music and stayed with it which really impressed me.
I also related with him in a way because unlike most people I knew what I wanted to do at a young age. From the first time, I watched college game day on Saturday mornings to going into high school and being the sports anchor for the live news. Ever since then I knew I wanted to be a part of sports. One of the biggest things that stuck with me from His speech was the idea that once you know what you want just keep going for it even when you get told no. It takes resilience to get what you want and you should never stop until you make it.
